Remote Learning Letter for Year 2

Hello Year 2,

All of the staff in school hope that you are all safe and well and we’d like to let you know that we are all missing you very much and look forward to seeing you next week as we begin our remote learning.  As you, we are both excited and anxious as we begin this new approach but we have been very busy preparing some great things for your children to learn.

We understand and appreciate fully that for some of you there will be issues around sharing of devices, access to the internet and also siblings needing to share the equipment and so we ask that although you may be unable to participate in all of the live sessions, that you try to attend some of them across the week if possible. Please scroll below for the timings of the live sessions in each year group.

Please also note that we will put up the links to the sways (scroll below) containing the lessons here on this web page for you too in case you have difficulty with using Microsoft Teams. These will be the same links which the children will use on Teams and in the classroom to ensure all of the children are having the same learning at home and school. We hope this will help.

The purpose of this letter is to outline to you the approach that we will take to remote learning, over the coming weeks

A timetable will be posted onto the home school webpage below https://underwood.schooljotter2.com/classes/year-2-2/learning-at-home-1

for year 2 outlining learning activities for the weeks ahead. Each week we will provide the following …

  • a daily live meet and greet at 9.30am
  • a daily maths lesson.
  • a daily reading & phonics lesson.
  • a daily literacy lesson.
  • a daily live feedback session at 1.15pm
  • a daily topic lesson.
  • a daily story.

To start the day, at 9.30am, you will receive an invite to a live ‘meet and greet’ session where a teacher from year 2 will outline the lessons and learning for the day and how to find the links for the lessons on the chat section of Microsoft Teams. A link to the live sessions will  be found under the general tab in the team called Year 2 Remote Learners.

We will use Microsoft Teams to ‘post’ these as a link to each lesson which will be either a sway, a power point or a video. A link for the daily learning will be posted under the relevant heading.

Remember you will find your child’s log in details in your child’s reading log. If you can’t find your child’s log in details please use teachers email address to let us know and we will provide you with them. teachers@underwoodwest.cheshire.sch.uk

Additionally, at 1.15pm, we will invite you again to another ‘live session to check in with the children and provide continuing general feedback

Throughout the day, a year 2 teacher will be available to answer any questions you may have through the ‘chat’ function until 3.30pm on Microsoft teams

You will be able to post the children’s work in the form of screen shots in the chat area of each subject. Please be assured that we will read the messages and responses which you post here but, understand that feedback will be more general and will not necessarily be to individual posts but will be in the form of verbal feedback during the two live sessions.
