One way is to use a simile. Remember similes are used to compare nouns and
include the words 'like' or 'as' and help to make descriptions more interesting.

Over the last few days we have been reading the story, 'Hansel and Gretel' (the story is an assignment on TEAMs) and identifying words which are nouns and verbs. We have then been describing the nouns using adjectives and the verbs using adverbs and then we have written these words in punctuated sentences.
So today, in our literacy lesson, we are still writing sentences, but can we have a go at writing a prargraph to desccribe either Hansel and Gretel? It is your choice which character you describe.
Here is an exmaple:
A tall, quiet boy, Hansel, has short, blonde hair and enjoys helping his woodcutter father. He wears...

Over the last few days we have been reading the story, 'Hansel and Gretel' and identifying words which are nouns and verbs. We have then been describing the nouns using adjectives and the verbs using adverbs and then we have written these words in punctuated sentences.
So today, in our literacy lesson, we are still writing sentences, but can we write different types of sentences?!
Watch the videos below to remind yourself about the different tyoes of sentences.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWiwftl8pqE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EE5gUGawqEw
There are 4 different types of sentences:
command, exclamation, statement and question
Here are some examples:
As he walked sadly along the stony path, Hansel quietly dropped some pebbles.
Quickly, Gretel pushed the nasty, old woman into the hot oven!
The breadcrumbs were gone! How were Hansel and Gretel going to find their way home?
'Take the children into the forest now!' shouted the wicked Stepmother.
Can you write these sentences as a question? Think about the punctuation!
The birds ate all of the breadcrumbs.
The house was made from gingerbread.
Can you write these sentences as commands?
Hansel picked up some shiny pebbles.
The old woman asked the children to go into her gingerbread house.
We will go through these sentences during the literacy lesson.

Literacy
Read the story, 'Hansel and Gretel' and make a list of the verbs that you read. The story is an assignment on Teams and we will read this together during our literacy lesson, this morning.

An adverb describes a verb. Can you think of adverbs to describe these verbs?
dropped
walked
looked
Now write 2 punctuated sentences. Here is an example for you.
Sadly, Hansel quitely dropped breadcrumbs as he walked bravely into the dark forest.
What words do these jumbled up letters make? We have been learning to read and spell these words in group. Good luck!
